Pondering...
<Everytime I read these words, I am blown away by the profundity. This morning, as I was considering the subject for this blog, this quote flew out of my journal.>
The English professor in me becomes curious. It just sounds so modern. The examples are topical -- bankruptcy is rampant in this recession/depression."Throwing one's fortune out the window" somehow seems like a scene from some 'reality' TV show. And often, in our pondering youth, my friends and I considered whether or not we should "give everything away," and if that would really make us free of avarice. (My recollection is that we concluded, at that time, that we all had so little anyway--jeans patched of necessity, only 2 pair of shoes, furniture exclusively hand-me-down and Salvation Army, NO kitchen gadgets!! -- that we would have to get more of the same stuff all over again.)
The one thing we all had, though, was a serious sound system. Hmmmmmmm
